The glitter of silver and gold metals: trap or opportunity.

Are you also chasing gold? Think about it. Why now? Why didn't you feel the urge earlier, Gold prices are rising rapidly, headlines in the newspapers are "Gold at a new high!", and everyone around you is talking about their profits. You feel a strange fear—that I might be left behind. But wait a minute.

What if I were to say that there's a sensible way to handle this frenzy? Let's understand this "gold mania"—its psychology, its economic basis, and the logical path forward. The power of FOMO, why our mind deceives us. In the jungle era, survival meant following the crowd. That same tendency still lives within us today. So when gold makes headlines, the mind says, "Everyone is making money, if I don't buy it now, I'll regret it." This is the fear of missing out, the fear of being left behind, a combination of greed and fear.

This shuts down our thinking, and emotions take over. We stop analyzing and simply react. But the truth is, it's better to miss an opportunity than to get caught in a bubble. Savvy investors know that true opportunities arise quietly, while bubbles make noise. Why is gold rising? The real reason? And then you decide for yourself: will it continue to rise? This gold rally is no mystery. It's the result of profound economic and monetary movements taking place around the world.

Currency Debasement: After COVID, central banks like the US (Fed) and Europe (ECB) printed billions of dollars and euros to support the economy. This reduced the long-term value of paper currencies. Gold, which is limited and tangible, naturally became a symbol of trust.

Geopolitical Shifts and De-Dollarization: The Russia-Ukraine War, instability in the Middle East, and the US use of the dollar as a "weapon" (through sanctions) have led many countries to increase their gold reserves. Banks purchased over 1,000 tons of gold in 2023 alone, a historic achievement. Never before has this happened! Every country is now seeking to reduce its dependence on the dollar, and investors are following suit.

Economic Uncertainty and Inflation Concerns: Persistently high inflation, rising global debt, and the threat of recession have forced investors to seek "safe havens." Gold consistently performs well in such an environment. What often goes unnoticed, many forget, is that when real interest rates rise, gold prices often stagnate or fall, as higher real returns make non-interest-bearing assets like gold less attractive. But this time, it's not just about "real returns," it's also about mistrust of the currency and uncertainty about the system.

Conclusion: This gold rally is logical, but not endless. Every major trend comes to a halt. Will gold continue to rise? There's no definitive answer, but history warns us that when an asset begins to appear "sure-fire," the real danger begins. Sometimes the risk appears low, but it's high. Gold reached $1,900 in 2011 and fell 40% over the next few years. Similar things happened with tech stocks in 2000 and crypto in 2021. When optimism peaks, returns dry up for new buyers. Gold may continue to rise, but sharp corrections or prolonged sideways may also occur.

The higher the sentiment, the greater the risk of disappointment. Should I buy gold now? Ask yourself: Am I buying gold because it fits into my financial goals and portfolio, or just to avoid missing an opportunity? If the former is the reason, it's investment. If the latter is the reason, it's speculation. Gold's role isn't to make me rich, but to maintain purchasing power. 10–15% gold is sufficient in a balanced portfolio. Holding more than that makes it a gamble, not a security. "Gold protects wealth; it's not meant to become wealth overnight."
